Strendur is located on the west side of Skįlafjųršur-inlet on Eysturoy.
Strendur spreads high and wide into the hills, as do the other villages at Skįlafjųršur-inlet. Centrally in the village are the charming little church from 1834 and the harbour with its boathouses and traditional Faeroese wooden boats.
The main road passes Strendur on a bridge in the water. So when passing Strendur by car youll actually see the village from the seaside. The centre-picture above is taken from this bridge.
Strendur has fishing-industry as have many other villages but also there is a knittery called Snaldan where they produce clothing of Faeroese wool. They produce the traditional Faeroese jersey but also fashionable
new models that are popular with both locals and tourists.
Eystanstevna is an annual civic-festival held in Runavķk and Strendur in turns. It runs in mid-June.
