Lambi is a cosy
little village in the bottom of the inlet Lambavik on Eysturoy’s
east-cost.
The houses are spread down through the valley following the road on
its way from the bottom of the valley down to the small harbour.
On the harbour there is a huge rock. Nobody wants to remove the rock
because it is said to be inhabited by ‘huldufolk’. ‘Huldufolk’ are a
kind of pixies that people used to belief in. They can be fierce if
disturbed.
New Years Eve 1707 a Danish merchant ship sank in Lambavik. The
ships name was ‘Norske Love’ which
means ‘Lion of Norway’. The ship’s bell and a model of the ship can
be found in the old church ‘Torshavnar Kirkja’ in Tórshavn . Many
divers have been searching for the ship through the years, but they
found nothing of interest. Story goes that the ship had a treasure
of gold onboard. |
