Leynar is located on Streymoy’s west coast.
The village spreads over the hills above the beach ‘Leyna-sandur’.
The small and beautiful beach is a nice recreational area. On a beautiful summer-day when the sun is shining it is possible go bathing in the clean but rather cold water.

The sub-sea tunnel connecting Vágar and Streymoy surfaces outside Leynar.

In a valley above Leynar is a beautiful lake called ‘Leynavatn’. It is popular with anglers.
