Hvannasund is located on Viðoy’s west coast.
It faces Norðdepil on Borðoy and a dam connects these two villages.
In Fossa north of Hvannasund there is a cracked rock called ‘Skrudhettan’. Tradition says that it broke the very moment Christ was born.
