I have found your site on the Faroe Islands very useful
indeed...
My plan is to spend 3 weeks in the Nordic countries at which my
main
focus will be the Faroe Islands...
I want to start in Denmark trekking through Sweden, Finland,
Norway
then across to the Faroes - I will also consider going to
Iceland and
possibly Greenland if time & money permit...

This is Guatemala, Central America. I have always got the
philatelic magazine from Faroe I.. There I have seen beautiful
sights, houses, and read how Post has changed, moved, postmarks,
etc. I have always wished to have a penfriend over there for
swapping and/or friendship. Hope still there is somebody in the

Hello Jon, I am traveling to the Faroes for a week in june from
Ireland via Copenhagen. I saw your'e excellent website on your'e
country. I am relishing the prospect of exploring the country.

flying on monday 6th of june and I would be very gratful if you

Jon,
I enjoyed your pictures having been there in 2000 on a three day
stopover on the Norrona. The cheap helicopter flight to the NE
islands was nice, being the only one aboard except the two
pilots for most of the flight. However, the helicopter was
jammed full between the two NE villages which lie only a few
kilometers apart.
Taking the ferry to the island across from Tórshavn was also an
experience because of the large cross waves and also it was
jammed with wedding guests who immediately disappeared into the
houses on landing, leaving no one except me in the streets. On
the way back I hitched a ride on the large sailing boat packed
with drunken Icelanders who were working on the breakwater
celebrating their national day. What an experience. They were
happy to see me in the village because they finally thought that
they had found a native.
One suggestion, besides just villages it would also be nice to
see some of the local sites such as the northern cliffs, after
all, they are the highest in Europe.

Hi Jon,
This is a fantastic website - the best of any I've found on the
Faroes - and has helped inspire me to visit the islands. They
look beautiful. I'm planning to visit the Faroes in late June
this year for either 7 or 14 days, depending on how much time I
would need to get a good flavour of the islands. Do you think
one week would be enough time to see a few of the islands? Also,
do you have any recommendations for places to see on short
trips? I am particularly interested in hiking, local culture and
people, folklore (Huldufolk) and history. Thanks in advance for

Hi, i saw Your Færøyene net page and i like photos very much. I
travel
Scandinavia every year for summer because have no time other
parts of year
:( ( studies), mostly to Norway. My Icelandic friend told me
about islands
You come from, said it's some like Iceland but not so well
known.Been trying
to find some about it in Kobenhavn but most of my danish friends
say it's so
dark there ble ble..so now try to learn it alone.
Is that small place on Christianshavn kind of Faroeislands
''ambassy''? or
where can get any information on Faroeislands in Dk?
I'm psychology student and want to study mostly about kids and
family life
there, if it will be possible- to work with that people after
studies.

Hello Jon, my cousin in the Faroes sent me your website by email
this morning and I
just wanted to say I enjoyed it very much. The pictures brought
back many nostalgic
memories of spending childhood vacations in Tórshavn with my
Abba og Omma.
I was born in Tórshavn , as was my Mum. My Dad was an English
soldier who took us all
back to England in 1945. I now live in British Columbia in

surfing the net and was wondering if you are able to help.
Having spent
hours searching the web for a Faroese based website about the
subject of
my request I have drawn a blank.
I am a member of a group based in the UK working to catalogue,
research
and locate wartime aircraft crash sites. We are hoping to plan a
trip
to the Faroes in the future and we are looking for someone
English
speaking who may know of any aircraft crash sites on the
Islands. We
know of three, 2 RAF machines, 1 Luftwaffe, that crashed during
the war.
Are you aware of anyone who may be able to help? preferably
someone who
can maybe work with us and speaks English? We have no planned
dates for
our expedition as yet but would like to correspond with someone
in the
meantime to idenitify how accessible the crash sites are.
